The President of Disneyland Resort, Ken Potrock, has expressed his deep sadness over the passing of an employee who tragically lost her life in a workplace accident.

A Disneyland employee, identified as 60-year-old Bonnye Mavis Lear from Fullerton, California, tragically passed away after falling from a moving golf cart while at work.

The incident occurred on June 5 at the California theme park, where Lear fell from the golf cart and suffered a severe head injury, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Emergency services responded to the scene just before 11:30 a.m. local time after reports of a collision backstage at Disneyland Resort.

Unfortunately, Lear was in critical condition following the accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on June 7.

Anaheim Police Traffic Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision that led to Lear’s tragic death.

Disneyland Resort has yet to comment on the incident when approached by PEOPLE for a statement.

In a statement provided to PEOPLE, President Ken Potrock extended his sympathies to Lear’s family and colleagues.

He said, “We are devastated by the passing of Bonnye and offer our heartfelt condolences to all who knew her.”

Potrock went on to say, “Our priority now is to support her loved ones and our staff during this tragic time, ensuring they have the necessary support.”
