A recent robbery incident at Watertown’s Thompson Park has taken a surprising turn with new details emerging from documents filed in city court.
Reports suggest that three individuals conspired to target a man who had allegedly arranged to pay for oral services from a 17-year-old girl.
The man in question, identified as 25-year-old Jacob Shipps, purportedly agreed to pay the young girl a sum of $200 for the said services.
However, things took a sinister turn when the girl, along with two other teenagers – 18-year-old Jayden Holt of West Carthage and 19-year-old Jiovanni Chambers of Watertown – allegedly robbed Shipps at knifepoint.
The trio reportedly made off with the $200, Shipps’ debit cards, and even his car, leaving him in a vulnerable position.
While the girl’s identity remains undisclosed due to her age, Holt is said to have fled the scene in Shipps’ vehicle, whilst the other two suspects made their getaway in a separate car.
Law enforcement authorities managed to apprehend the girl and Chambers at the park, but Holt’s escape attempt was far more dramatic.
Holt, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, reportedly engaged in a high-speed chase with the police, reaching speeds of up to 60 miles per hour before crashing the stolen vehicle into a stone wall on Park Drive.
Although the authorities were able to recover the stolen money, the knife used in the robbery remains unaccounted for, with Holt claiming it had a blade longer than a mobile phone.
During interrogation, Holt confessed to fleeing due to his intoxicated state.
All three suspects have been charged with first-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.
In addition, Holt faces charges of driving while intoxicated and evading a police officer in a motor vehicle.
Both Chambers and Holt are currently detained at the Jefferson County Jail, with Holt’s bail set at £10,000 and Chambers held on £5,000.
