Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, although one officer did sustain injuries during the altercation.

According to the GBI, the incident occurred when Henry County police officers identified a stolen truck on Business Center Drive in Stockbridge at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Saturday.

In an attempt to stop the stolen truck, the driver, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Jay Waldrop from McDonough, allegedly drove into a patrol car belonging to one of the officers.

Following this, the officer in question discharged their weapon in the direction of Waldrop, although the suspect was not struck. Subsequently, Waldrop led the officers on a prolonged car chase before being apprehended.

Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated in bringing the chase to a halt and taking Waldrop into custody.

The identity of the injured officer has not been disclosed by the authorities at this time.

The GBI stated that the Henry County Police Department requested their intervention in investigating the shooting incident, a standard procedure for cases involving law enforcement officers.
