The tragic incident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning in Houston, Texas. Surveillance footage captured two suspects, wearing hoodies, approaching the building where 36-year-old Damon Price was on duty. Price, whose job was to inspect delivery trucks at the facility, confronted the suspects after witnessing them attempting to steal a golf cart. A physical altercation ensued, during which one of the suspects drew a gun and fired multiple shots at Price, leaving him critically injured.
Authorities reported that Price was already on the ground when he was shot in the parking lot. Both suspects fled the scene, leaving behind four shell casings. On Friday, one of the suspects was apprehended and charged with capital murder. He is currently being held at the Harris County Detention Center.
In a recent update on Saturday, sources from ABC Houston affiliate KTRK revealed that the suspect’s mother brought him to the downtown police station to surrender himself. The second suspect, who was captured in several photos released by the Houston Police Department, remains at large.
The family of Damon Price expressed their sorrow upon learning of the young age of one of the suspects, emphasizing the need for accountability. Price’s father, Leo Price Sr., lamented the senseless violence, stating, “This happened while he was doing his job. Really, there’s nothing that can be said about a man going to work.”
