Accident – Death – Obituary News : LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. — Tragedy struck in Logan County as a husband followed his wife, resulting in a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals. The incident unfolded just before 9 a.m. in a neighbourhood on Wildwood Road near Coltrane and Waterloo. Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux disclosed that the woman was in the process of picking up her coworker when her husband pursued her to the location and obstructed her from driving away.
“The driver had arrived to collect a coworker with whom she carpools,” Sheriff Devereaux recounted. “He parked behind her vehicle, preventing her from reversing, and proceeded to shoot her.” The perpetrator discharged multiple rounds into the car before approaching the passenger’s side, where the female coworker was seated. Fortunately, the coworker managed to escape, but the assailant then turned the weapon on himself.
The sound of gunshots echoed through the neighbourhood, prompting concern among residents. “It sounded like it was coming from a very large pistol. It didn’t sound like a shotgun, but it would just go, ‘Blam! Blam! Blam!'” neighbour John Hamilton described. The shocking nature of the incident left many in disbelief. “I thought it was pretty unusual for a Monday morning,” Hamilton added, reflecting on the tragic event.
While the neighbourhood had previously experienced disturbances, the gravity of a deadly shooting was profoundly unsettling for the community. “I was working at my desk when the dogs started barking, and I looked outside to see all kinds of fire trucks,” neighbour Berl Stinson recounted. “It’s disheartening that we live in a time where such occurrences are becoming distressingly common.”
The victim of this senseless act of violence was identified as 43-year-old Catalina Jimenez. Although the sheriff refrained from disclosing the suspect’s name, he confirmed that the individual had a history of domestic violence. “This is unprecedented for us.
