Accident – Death – Obituary News : Lucknow: A tragic incident took place in the early hours of Monday as a 22-year-old student of MD (post-graduate) radiology at a private medical college in Lucknow lost his life in a road accident. The victim, identified as Ankit Kumar Sharma from Palamu, Jharkhand, was struck by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road near the Mohanlalganj police station.
According to reports from the authorities, the fatal accident occurred around 11:30 pm on Sunday when Ankit was on his way to a nearby shop to purchase some medicines. The vehicle, whose registration number has been identified, hit Ankit with such force that he sustained critical injuries. He was immediately rushed to SGPGI trauma 2 for medical treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Mohanlalganj, Alok Rao, shared that initial investigations indicated that Ankit was a diligent student pursuing his studies at a private medical college in the city. He was residing in a rented accommodation in Mohanlalganj at the time of the tragic incident.
Eye-witnesses reported that Ankit was walking with his friend, Alok, when a black SUV approaching from the Nigohan side collided with him. The impact of the collision was so severe that Ankit was propelled about 15 feet in the air before crashing onto the ground in a pool of blood. The SUV driver, identified as Uday Pratap Singh (24), was also found unconscious at the scene, with the airbags deployed.
Following the accident, the police were promptly alerted and arrived at the scene. Both Ankit and Uday were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Tragically, Ankit was declared brought dead upon arrival, while Uday was transferred to Lok Bandhu Hospital for further treatment.
SHO Rao confirmed that Ankit’s family had been informed of the heartbreaking incident, and the deceased’s body was sent for an autopsy. “Ankit, who was actively seeking employment opportunities while studying and residing in Mohanlalganj, met with an untimely demise in this tragic accident,” added the police official.
