Authorities in Ruston, Louisiana have confirmed that a 14-year-old suspect is in custody for second-degree murder following a tragic incident in the early hours of May 19.
The Ruston Police Department responded to a distressing call reporting a person lying in the road at the intersection of South Trenton Street and West Hilly Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a young male victim with a gunshot wound.
The victim, later identified as a fourteen-year-old black male, was swiftly transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center for urgent medical care. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, and he was subsequently airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health-Shreveport, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Following an extensive investigation, the Ruston Police Department issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder in connection with the case. On June 10, law enforcement officers apprehended a 14-year-old black male, who was subsequently booked into the Green Oaks Detention Center.
