Latur, Jun 9 (PTI) A 38-year-old truck driver, Sachin Kondiba Munde, was tragically crushed under a bus on Friday night in what police suspect may be a case of suicide. This incident occurred on the Ahmedpur-Andhori road near Borgaon Pati at around 9 pm. Sachin, a resident of Yestar in Latur’s Ahmedpur, had recently made a video expressing that he would be “no more” if BJP leader Pankaja Munde lost the Lok Sabha polls from Beed.
The Kingaon police station official confirmed the details of the incident, stating that the bus driver has been arrested. An investigation is currently underway to determine whether the incident was a tragic accident or a deliberate act of self-harm. The fatal incident occurred when the Yalderwadi night halt bus stopped at Borgaon Pati, and Sachin, who was standing behind the bus, was fatally crushed when it reversed.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation bus involved in the incident has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation, as reported by Assistant Inspector Bahuasaheb Khandare of Kingaon police station.
Prior to the tragic incident, Sachin had released a video in which he ominously declared, “Sachin will be no more if Pankaja Munde loses the poll.” This video had garnered significant attention online. Pankaja Munde ultimately lost the Beed Lok Sabha poll to Congress candidate Bajrang Sonawane by a narrow margin of 6,553 votes. The Beed poll results were the last to be announced by the Election Commission in the early hours of June 5.
According to the deceased’s family members, Sachin had been struggling with depression following the election results and had become withdrawn. His last rites were conducted on Saturday morning in the village.
