In a tragic turn of events, a 38-year-old truck driver named Sachin Kondiba Munde was crushed under a bus on Friday night in Latur. Sachin had gained notoriety after releasing a video in which he claimed he would be “no more” if BJP leader Pankaja Munde lost the Lok Sabha polls from Beed. The incident, which took place on the Ahmedpur-Andhori road near Borgaon Pati around 9pm, has raised suspicions of suicide.

Sachin, a resident of Yestar in Latur’s Ahmedpur, was standing behind a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation bus when it reversed and fatally crushed him. The bus driver has been arrested, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Sachin’s death.

The Infamous Video

The deceased, who lived with his parents and brother, had been deeply affected by Pankaja Munde’s loss in the Beed Lok Sabha poll. Pankaja Munde had lost to Congress candidate Bajrang Sonawane by a narrow margin of 6,553 votes. Sachin’s family revealed that he had become increasingly despondent following the election results and had withdrawn into silence.

His last rites were conducted on Saturday morning in the village, marking the end of a tragic chapter in Latur’s political landscape.

Motorcyclist Killed by Falling Signboard amid Heavy Rains

Tragedy struck again in Latur when a 29-year-old man named Dnyaneshwar Balaji Sake was killed after a signboard collapsed on him during heavy rains and strong winds. The incident occurred near Ahmedpur as Dnyaneshwar was travelling on his motorcycle to Shirur-Tajband.

The signboard, displaying directional information, fell on Dnyaneshwar as he passed beneath it, resulting in his untimely demise. An accidental death report has been registered in connection with the incident.

Six Arrested for Allegedly Abetting Woman’s Suicide

In a separate incident, six individuals have been apprehended for purportedly abetting the suicide of a 30-year-old woman named Anita Balaji Lashkare in Latur. Anita, a resident of Vitthalnagar, tragically ended her life by jumping into a well on June 6.

Following a complaint lodged by Anita’s father, the police have registered a case under sections 306 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. The victim’s father alleged that his daughter and son-in-law had faced harassment and threats from their relatives, leading to Anita’s tragic decision.

The father also accused certain police officers of disregarding Anita’s complaints about the threats and displaying disrespect towards her. As a result, one officer has been suspended pending further inquiry.

These incidents have sent shockwaves through the community in Latur, underscoring the importance of mental health support and intervention in times of crisis.
