Instead, authorities now believe that 22-year-old Ryan Shamar Luckett was behind the wheel during the fatal accident.
Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown has confirmed Luckett’s arrest, leading to the charges against Watson being dismissed shortly after his initial arrest. The reasons for the delay in disclosing Luckett’s arrest until Friday remain unclear.
Luckett is currently in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, where he was convicted of three counts of felony embezzlement in October 2022. Additionally, he is facing charges for violating his parole, with plans for his transfer to Dallas County in the near future, as reported by NBC5.
McMichael, a respected 24-year veteran of the Arlington Police Department, had served in the motorcycle unit for 13 years. Prior to that, he had worked as a patrol officer and detective within the department.
