Two Men Found Dead in DeKalb County
Authorities in DeKalb County, Georgia, are investigating the deaths of two men who were found deceased at separate crime scenes. The incidents occurred in a parking lot off Rainbow Drive and a half-mile away on Candler Road.
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – The tragic events that unfolded on Friday night along Candler Road and Rainbow Drive in DeKalb County have left the community in shock. The suspect in what appears to be a murder-suicide has been identified as a member of the Fort Valley Police Department.
Authorities have confirmed the identities of both the suspect and the victim involved in this heartbreaking incident.
Two Bodies Discovered Half-Mile Apart
DeKalb County authorities responded to a distressing scene on Friday night, where they found two lifeless bodies just half a mile apart on Candler Road and Rainbow Drive.
The shooting incident took place near The Exchange at Decatur on 3009 Rainbow Drive, where one man was discovered dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
The second man reportedly fled the initial scene in a black sedan and was later found dead in a wreck along Candler Road near Embers Drive. He also sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Suspect Identified in Murder-Suicide Case
Authorities have identified the victim found at The Exchange at Decatur as 37-year-old Christian Chestnut.
The suspect who fled the scene and was later discovered deceased has been named as 38-year-old Michael Durieux, a reserve sergeant with the Fort Valley Police Department. Reports indicate that he was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time of the tragic incident.
Law enforcement officials are currently working to determine the motive behind this devastating turn of events.
