The deceased, identified as Mahadeva Nayak from Chandagalu village in KR Nagar taluk, tragically passed away after consuming poison. His wife, Gowramma (53), and daughter, Leelavathi (34), are currently undergoing treatment at CIMS Hospital, while his minor grand-daughter is receiving medical care at Holy Cross Hospital in Chamarajanagar district.
The family’s harrowing decision to drink poison stemmed from a distressing situation where a man allegedly threatened to share nude videos of the minor girl on social media. Shedding light on the events that led to this tragic outcome, Nayak’s relative, Cheluvaraju, revealed that Leelavathi’s daughter, a college student in KR Nagar, had developed a relationship with a man named Lokesh from Cheeranahalli village. Lokesh, who used to drop her off at college daily, eventually betrayed her trust by recording her nude videos on his mobile phone.
Subsequently, Lokesh began blackmailing the young girl, coercing her to meet his demands under the threat of publicly sharing the compromising videos on social media. The unbearable pressure and fear instilled by Lokesh’s actions eventually drove Nayak, Gowramma, and Leelavathi to resort to consuming poison as a drastic measure to escape the impending disgrace.
