Accident – Death – Obituary News : DeKalb County authorities have recently revealed the identities of two individuals involved in a tragic murder-suicide incident. The victim has been identified as Christian Chestnut, aged 37, while the suspect has been named as Michael Durieux, aged 38. Shockingly, Durieux was a Reserve Sergeant with the Fort Valley Police Department.

The harrowing incident unfolded on a Friday evening, just before 7:30 p.m., when officers responded to a call on Rainbow Drive reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Chestnut with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses recounted that a second individual, later confirmed to be Durieux, had fled the scene in a black sedan.

Subsequently, the black sedan was involved in a traffic collision on Candler Road. Tragically, officers found Durieux deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. DeKalb County officials have stated that Chestnut was specifically targeted by Durieux, indicating a premeditated act.

Further investigations revealed that an altercation between the two men escalated into the fatal shooting. It was clarified that Durieux was off-duty at the time of the incident and was driving his personal vehicle. In light of these revelations, inquiries have been made to the Fort Valley Police Department for additional information on Durieux.
