Accident – Death – Obituary News :

On the evening of May 31, a two-car collision with minor injuries occurred near Bartlett Avenue and Elm Street in Woodland. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident fled the scene, prompting a police response. The suspect, identified as Terry Madderra, a 34-year-old resident of Woodland, was located and arrested for both driving under the influence and hit-and-run. Madderra was later booked into the Yolo County Jail.

Multiple DUI Arrests in Woodland

On the same night, Woodland police officers responded to multiple reports of reckless driving in the area. Salvador Lopez-Pimentel, a 21-year-old Woodland resident, was arrested for driving under the influence after being found driving erratically on the 900 block of Bourn Drive. Shortly after, Jose Javier Zavala Jr., a 36-year-old Woodland resident, was also arrested for DUI following a traffic stop near County Road 98 and County Road 20. Additionally, Shaun Ellis, a 30-year-old Woodland resident, was arrested for DUI after being stopped for speeding on East Gibson Road.

Gun Arrest in Woodland

On June 3, Woodland patrol officers made a significant arrest during a routine vehicle stop near Sixth Street and Lincoln Avenue. Three male juveniles were found in possession of open alcohol containers, and further investigation revealed a loaded firearm in the waistband of a 16-year-old male. The juvenile was arrested and charged with multiple firearm-related offences, including carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. The other two juveniles were released to their guardians.

Homeless Outreach Street Team Report

Woodland’s Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) has been actively engaging with the community, making 61 contacts and offering services to 25 individuals. Six individuals accepted assistance, and 16 homeless camps were tagged for clean-up, with nine being cleared. Additionally, HOST conducted six patrols in the downtown area this week.
