S Nishanth : “Four-year-old Killed in Manali Road Accident”

Chennai: A four-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a devastating road accident near Manali on Saturday. The young child, identified as S Nishanth, was travelling on a two-wheeler with his parents to celebrate their wedding anniversary when the accident occurred.

The parents, Sekar, a lawyer, and Poongothai, residents of Raja Shanmugam Nagar in Thiruvottiyur, were riding the bike along the Manali Expressway when they collided with a tipper lorry parked by the road. The impact of the accident caused all three of them to be thrown off the bike.

Passersby rushed to their aid and took them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tragically, Nishanth was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Sekar and Poongothai are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries.

The Red Hills Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) has registered a case and detained the truck driver, Sridhar of Mayiladuthurai, for further investigation.

Recent Road Accidents in India

In recent news, there have been several tragic road accidents across India. In Uttar Pradesh, eight people lost their lives and three others were injured in separate incidents. Four individuals were tragically burnt to death in a car fire near Jani, Meerut, while en route to Haridwar from Ghaziabad and Noida.

Similarly, in Jaipur, three accidents occurred within 24 hours on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Dausa. The latest incident involved a collision between a mini parcel truck from Jaipur and a mini truck, resulting in critical injuries to the victims who were identified as Nazim, Afzal, and Javed.

These tragic incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance while travelling on the roads.
