PHOENIX – Authorities in Phoenix have reported the arrest of a man in connection with a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in the city.
According to a statement released by Phoenix Police, officers were summoned to the vicinity of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Saturday. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man who had sustained at least one stab wound.
“Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed,” the police statement read.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Robert Alan Downs, was taken into custody without resistance, according to investigators.
“Downs claimed self-defense, although the evidence collected at the scene contradicted his statement. As a result, he has been charged with murder and is currently being held in jail,” the statement further stated.
