A 35-year-old man, who was working as a police informer, was tragically shot dead by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district in the Bastar division. The incident occurred in Timdi village under the jurisdiction of Dhanora police station on Friday night.
The victim, identified as Dinesh Mandavi, had attended a wedding ceremony in a neighbouring village and was returning home when he was ambushed by the Naxalites. They opened fire on him near his house, causing serious injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital in Keshkal, Dinesh succumbed to his wounds on the way.
Speaking on the incident, Kondagaon SP stated that Dinesh had been actively assisting the special intelligence branch of the police as an informer. Following the attack, security forces have launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
The body of Dinesh Mandavi has been handed over to his family after undergoing a post-mortem examination. The Dhanora Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to bring the culprits to justice.
Earlier on the same day, a successful anti-Naxal operation took place on the border of Dantewada and Narayanpur, resulting in the elimination of seven hardcore Naxalites. Over 1000 security personnel were involved in the operation, demonstrating a strong stance against Naxal insurgency in the region.
