A suspect has been taken into custody for attempted homicide in Lake City, Florida. The incident took place on Saturday, June 8, at the intersection of South Marion Avenue and SW Crescent Street. Police officers responded to a call regarding a person who had sustained serious injuries to their head and body.
Upon arrival, officers, firefighters, and EMTs provided immediate first aid to the victim. According to reports, a witness observed the victim engaged in a heated argument with the driver of a Buick vehicle. The situation escalated when the driver accelerated and struck the victim, causing them to be thrown into the windshield.
The driver, identified as Charnavia Criswell, fled the scene following the incident. However, law enforcement authorities were able to locate and apprehend Criswell soon after. She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center for further questioning.
The victim’s condition remains critical, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Lake City Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
