New Delhi: In a shocking and tragic incident that unfolded this morning in Mohali, Punjab, a woman named Balwinder Kaur was brutally attacked with a sword by an unknown assailant. The horrifying act took place on a bustling street and was captured by a nearby CCTV camera. Despite the presence of several onlookers, no one stepped in to help the victim, as depicted in the footage.
Balwinder Kaur, who was on her way to work at the time of the attack, was seen running towards the middle of the road while being chased by the assailant brandishing a sword. The CCTV footage shows the attacker catching up to her and launching the assault. Kaur collapsed near a pick-up truck that briefly paused but then drove off without offering any assistance. Shockingly, not a single passerby came to her aid.
Police Probing Motive Behind Attack
Following the brutal attack that left Balwinder Kaur motionless on the ground, the assailant walked away casually from the scene. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, due to the grave nature of her injuries, she was declared dead upon arrival. Balwinder Kaur, who hailed from Fatehgarh Sahib, had been working at a bank for the past seven years. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but police sources suggest that the assailant may have targeted her due to her rejection of his advances.
22-Year-Old Woman Stabbed in Mohali
In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman from Akola was fatally stabbed by Suraj Verma, a 26-year-old HR manager, at his PG accommodation in Sector 48. Suraj, who was reportedly enraged over a rape case filed against him two years ago in Maharashtra and alleged harassment for money by the survivor, attacked the woman with a knife. Following the murder, Suraj informed the police, who promptly arrested him. The victim had visited Suraj’s room on Saturday evening, where the tragic incident took place. The police discovered her lifeless body in a pool of blood and gathered CCTV footage and other details for investigation. The body has been sent for autopsy, and a case under IPC Section 302 has been registered.
