CHICAGO – A man from California has been apprehended in connection with a brutal stabbing incident near Union Station that has left an elderly woman in critical condition.
Wilson Barreno, aged 25, faces the following charges as per the Chicago Police Department:
- One count of attempted first-degree murder, a felony
- One count of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm, a felony
- One count of aggravated battery involving the use of a deadly weapon, a felony
Barreno was taken into custody shortly after the attack, which took place just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the 500 block of W. Tilden Street following his identification as the prime suspect by CPD.
Stabbing near Union Station leaves elderly woman in critical condition
A woman is in critical condition after being stabbed in a horrific attack near Union Station on Wednesday afternoon.
The stabbing incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the victim, a 71-year-old woman, was approached by Barreno near the pavement and subjected to multiple stab wounds with a sharp object, as per the police.

Barreno is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on June 7.
