Nevis Township, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A 75-year-old man from Bismarck, North Dakota, tragically lost his life after drowning at Starlight Bay Resort on Eighth Crow Wing Lake last week.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s office received a distress call on May 30, just before 6:00 p.m., reporting that a man had fallen into the lake and was unconscious.
Upon arrival at the scene, first responders immediately initiated life-saving measures on the victim, identified as William Delmore. Despite their best efforts, Delmore was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the victim’s son, 48-year-old Shane Delmore from Boston, Massachusetts, the father and son duo were enjoying a fishing trip on the resort’s dock. Shane recounted that he briefly stepped into their cabin, only to return and discover his father face down in the water. Acting swiftly, Shane jumped into the lake and, with the help of another individual, managed to pull his father to safety on the shore.
The tragic incident is currently under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
