The Indianapolis Metro Police Department is currently on the lookout for an armed man who barricaded himself in a hotel room on the south side late Thursday night. The incident unfolded at around 8:12 p.m. when the man, later identified as William Beathy, was reportedly threatening individuals outside a business located at 4950 S East St. Beathy then proceeded to force himself into a room that did not belong to him.

Upon the arrival of officers, they were directed to the room that Beathy had entered forcibly. The occupants of the room had already fled the scene by that time. Despite the officers’ requests for Beathy to come out of the room, he refused to comply. Subsequently, a special weapons team was summoned, and the situation was treated as an armed barricade.

As the police made their way into the room, Beathy managed to escape into another room through a wall inside the initial room before a perimeter could be established. Beathy, described as a white male with long hair, was last seen donning a black shirt and grey pants, and was armed with a handgun.
