Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Franklin County jury will be selected on Monday to hear the case of Timothy Kendrick, who is facing charges of aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse in the death of 30-year-old Drew Mendelbaum on July 17, 2021. The trial will take place in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Timothy Kendrick, 35, is accused of posting videos of himself beating Mendelbaum to death on Snapchat. The victim’s body was found beaten and burned on the 4600 block of Sawmill Road. Assistant Franklin County Prosecutors Cory Helffrich and Natalie Kahler will represent the state, while local defense attorney Jeff Blosser will represent Kendrick.

Drew Mendelbaum died after being brutally beaten and stabbed at least 45 times, according to his autopsy report. He suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose, broken bones in his face, bruises, cuts, and numerous stab wounds. The killer then put Mendelbaum’s body in a bag and set it on fire, with evidence indicating that he died before the fire started.

Timothy Kendrick was identified as a suspect after Columbus police received a tip about videos posted on Snapchat showing the assault on Mendelbaum. Surveillance footage from the hotel where Kendrick was staying showed him and Mendelbaum together before only Kendrick left with a bag believed to contain the victim’s body.

In a plea deal offer, Kendrick was given the chance to negotiate but only agreed to plead guilty to reckless homicide, which prosecutors rejected. He has been held without bond since August 2021. Kendrick is facing seven charges, including aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse, with a potential maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted on all counts.
