Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Mount Morris resident who has been detained in Oakland County for over three months on charges related to a road rage incident is set to be released on Thursday following his sentencing hearing before Judge Martha Anderson.
Thomas Trim, aged 24, was handed a 105-day jail term with credit for the same number of days already served for felonious assault and discharge of a weapon from a vehicle in connection with the incident that occurred on February 22 on I-75 near Grange Hall Road in Groveland Township. Trim, who has been behind bars since February 23, entered a guilty plea to the charges in April.
In addition to his jail time, Anderson also imposed a two-year probationary period on Trim.
The incident in question transpired when the victim reported that a motorist, later identified as Trim, was driving aggressively, passing on the shoulder, and attempting to force her off the road before brandishing a firearm at her. As the woman slowed down to call 911, the motorist allegedly fired shots at her through the open passenger window, drove past her, lowered the driver’s window, fired at her once more, and then sped away from the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were sustained as a result of the altercation.
The sentencing of Trim comes as a reminder of the importance of responsible and safe driving practices to prevent such dangerous incidents from occurring on our roadways. It serves as a cautionary tale of the potential consequences of road rage and aggressive driving behaviour.
