Accident – Death – Obituary News : Sheriff’s deputies in Ventura County have apprehended two students who allegedly ignited a small incendiary device on the campus of Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, resulted in a staff member sustaining minor injuries.

The students, both 16-year-old boys attending the school, were taken into custody on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a destructive device, explosive with intent to injure/intimidate, arson of property, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and conspiracy. It remains unclear whether formal charges will be filed against them.

The Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the campus. However, the staff member who was injured was treated at a local hospital following the incident.
