A young employee at Stanford Dairy Queen was reportedly subjected to a violent attack by a fellow coworker, resulting in severe injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 29th May at approximately 4:30 p.m., prompting the early closure of the store. Stanford Police were summoned to the scene following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, Officer James Mayfield witnessed a female attempting to flee the premises, while another individual tried to restrain her. The assailant was identified as 20-year-old Rachel J. Sanchez from Stanford and was promptly apprehended.

According to the citation, a long fixed blade knife was discovered outside the building, with blood evident in multiple areas within the kitchen. The victim, who sustained lacerations to the neck and puncture wounds to the abdomen, was attended to by EMS before being airlifted to a medical facility for further treatment.

During questioning at the police station, Sanchez claimed that the victim had been giving her unsettling looks, prompting her to retrieve a knife from her residence and return to Dairy Queen to confront her coworker. Sanchez admitted to slashing the victim’s throat and stabbing her in the stomach, with the intention of putting an end to what she perceived as ‘evil’.

It was revealed that Sanchez was under medication for schizophrenia, anxiety, and PTSD at the time of the incident.

The victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries but is said to be in a stable condition as of Monday, according to Stanford Police Chief Zach Middleton.

Sanchez has been charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault and is currently held at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
