Two Japanese men with alleged ties to the yakuza, a notorious Japanese crime syndicate, have been apprehended in Laos in connection with the brutal murder and dismemberment of their compatriot, Kabashima Ryosuke. The victim’s remains were discovered in Nonthaburi province in April, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Kato Takuya, aged 50, and Suzuki Hiroto, aged 33, were taken into custody in the Laotian capital of Vientiane by local authorities. They are now in the process of being extradited to Thailand, where they will face charges related to the heinous crime.

The two men are suspected of carrying out the gruesome killing and dismemberment of Kabashima Ryosuke, aged 47, in Nonthaburi earlier this year. The victim’s body parts were found in black garbage bags scattered across different locations in tambon Phimolrat of Bang Bua Thong district. The initial discovery of skeletal remains was made on April 19, with the victim’s head being located in a separate location four days later.

Prior to the apprehension of the Japanese suspects, a 30-year-old Thai man named Kritsakorn Jaiphitak had been arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime. Kritsakorn had reportedly been hired by the three Japanese individuals as a chauffeur around the time of the murder.

According to police reports, Kritsakorn claimed that Ryosuke had been seated next to him in the front passenger seat, with Hiroto and Takuya occupying the rear seats. Although he could not comprehend their conversation, Kritsakorn sensed tension between the three men during the car journey.

Upon reaching a warehouse in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi, Kritsakorn was instructed to exit the vehicle by Hiroto and Takuya, who remained inside. As Kritsakorn took a smoke break, he overheard a gunshot coming from the vicinity of the car.

Rushing back to the scene, Kritsakorn witnessed Ryosuke’s lifeless body on the ground, with blood emanating from his head. He further claimed that Hiroto and Takuya proceeded to dismember the body in the warehouse before returning to the car with black plastic bags containing the remains.

Kritsakorn confessed to being coerced by the suspects into disposing of the bags in various locations around Bang Bua Thong. He now faces charges of complicity in concealing a body, as per the Bang Bua Thong Police. Additionally, evidence suggests that the two Japanese suspects are affiliated with the yakuza, as indicated by tattoo art found on the victim’s hand.
