Brown Apprehended by Law Enforcement

In the early hours of the morning at approximately 7 am, Lieutenant D. Newsome, Sergeant S. Langley, and Master Officer K. Williams successfully apprehended Jonathan James Brown at a residence within the city limits. Brown, aged 36, was wanted in connection with a sexual assault case dating back to May 29. The incident involved Brown allegedly groping a 16-year-old girl at a local business. Furthermore, Brown is currently facing first-degree murder charges and other related counts for the shooting death of Curtis Graham, 36, at Windchase Apartments in January 2021. Brown has been remanded into custody without the possibility of bail on charges of misdemeanor sexual battery and felony failure to register as a sex offender. He is scheduled to appear in district court on June 27.

Shoplifters Apprehended

In a separate incident, two individuals involved in a shoplifting incident on Tuesday, where over $500 worth of merchandise was stolen, were located and captured by law enforcement. Evan Paige Carroll and Matthew Scott Liverman were found hiding in a locked bedroom on Taylor Street. Both suspects have been charged with felony larceny, conspiracy, misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen goods. They have each been granted $5,000 secured bonds and are due to appear in district court on June 27.

DUI Arrest

On a routine patrol on Tuesday evening around 9:15 pm, Officer D. Norfleet observed a vehicle with a revoked license plate on West Fifth and Vance streets. The driver, identified as Dorian Antonio Pitchford, 48, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Pitchford failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and had a breath alcohol concentration of .23. A semi-automatic pistol was also discovered in the vehicle. Pitchford was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving with a revoked license. He is scheduled to appear in district court on July 12.
