Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man from Pulaski County, who admitted guilt to two charges of distributing child pornography in January, has been handed a 35-year prison sentence by U.S. District Judge Lee Rudofsky.

Jessie Michael Collins, 32, from Jacksonville, was given a 210-month sentence on each count, to be served consecutively, resulting in a total of 35 years behind bars. Collins, who was also facing a state charge for possessing child pornography, was indicted on April 5, 2023, on two counts of distributing child pornography.

Court documents reveal that in November 2022, an undercover agent from Homeland Security Investigations was investigating an online platform suspected to be used by individuals involved in the possession, distribution, and receipt of child pornography. During the investigation, a user identified as Collins commented on an image posted by another user in a chatroom.

Following an online conversation with the agent, who was posing as a mother with a young child, Collins allegedly made disturbing statements, inviting the agent to visit him in Jacksonville and admitting to sexually abusing a 12-year-old. Over the course of two days, he reportedly sent the agent an image of himself and two videos containing child pornography.

Further investigation revealed that Collins had previous arrests for similar offences and had been charged in Pulaski County Circuit Court on December 14, 2021, with 14 counts of possessing child pornography. The case is currently ongoing before Sixth Judicial Circuit Judge Cathleen Compton.

In addition to the lengthy prison term, Judge Rudofsky ordered Collins to be placed on supervised release for life after serving his sentence. He was also instructed to pay a mandatory $200 special assessment and an extra $100 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018.

The prosecution in this case was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristin Bryant, while Collins was represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender Latrece Gray.
