An 18-year-old young lady sustained injuries after being hit by a school bus in the early hours of Friday, June 7, 2024, on F. Vestil Street in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City. The victim, identified as Jasmine Gallendo and a resident of Sitio Lawis in Barangay Mambaling, was struck by the bus shortly after 5 a.m.
The incident, which took place near the University of Cebu (UC) Mambaling campus, was investigated by the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office. According to reports, the victim was standing by the roadside when the school bus, just departing from the UC campus, collided with her. The impact was so strong that Jasmine fell to the ground and hit her head on the pavement.
Witnesses stated that Jasmine and her friend were walking towards the edge of a bridge to answer the call of nature when the accident occurred. The friend managed to avoid getting hit, but unfortunately, Jasmine was not so lucky.
