Following the tragic carjacking incident in Seminole County that resulted in the death of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, a man allegedly involved in the crime, Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez, is now facing federal charges. Despite initial reports of dropped drug charges against Hernandez, the 27-year-old has been indicted by a grand jury, as per federal records.

On April 11, Aguasvivas was on her way to Seminole County when her vehicle was forcefully taken at gunpoint, as captured by a bystander. Tragically, she was later discovered deceased inside her burning car in Osceola County, less than two hours after the carjacking.

Investigators were able to link Hernandez as the last person Aguasvivas had contact with before the carjacking incident took place. Subsequently, a search warrant was issued for Hernandez’s residence, where authorities discovered fentanyl and a firearm, according to Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma.

Living with his girlfriend, Monicsabel Romero Soto, Hernandez’s home was also where Soto was apprehended for receiving a delivery containing three kilos of cocaine in Osceola County during the search warrant execution. Soto now faces federal charges of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.

Both Soto and Hernandez are charged with possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking. Additionally, besides facing federal charges related to drugs and weapons, Hernandez has now been indicted on charges directly linked to the carjacking itself.

The indictment accuses Hernandez of carjacking resulting in death, kidnapping, and the use of a firearm during a violent crime causing death. Court documents suggest that Aguasvivas was en route to Seminole County from south Florida to collect $170,000 from Hernandez, believed to be proceeds from drug transactions.

Allegedly, Hernandez contacted Jordanish Torres-Garcia, another suspect in the case, to orchestrate the carjacking to retrieve the money from Aguasvivas. Torres-Garcia then enlisted the help of Kevin Ocasio Justiano and Dereck Alexis Rodriguez Bonilla to carry out the carjacking.

All four suspects, including Hernandez, face similar federal charges. Should they be convicted on all counts, each defendant could potentially receive a life sentence or even the death penalty.
