The Pune Police have taken action against the father and grandfather of the minor who was involved in a fatal Porsche car crash on May 19 in Pune. In addition to this case, they have also registered a separate case related to the abetment of suicide of a businessman’s son in the city, involving three other individuals.
The complaint was filed by DS Kature, a construction business owner in Pune’s Vadgaon Sheri area, who accused Vinay Kale of harassing his son, Shashikant Kature. Shashikant had borrowed money from Kale for construction work, but was unable to repay it on time. Allegedly, Kale added compounding interest to the loan amount, leading to constant harassment and ultimately Shashikant’s suicide in January of this year.
Following this incident, a case was registered against Kale under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Chandannagar police station in Pune.
During the investigation, the involvement of the juvenile’s father, grandfather, and three others came to light in the suicide case. The police have added Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC to the case, although the specific roles of these individuals have not been disclosed.
Currently, the juvenile’s grandfather is in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and wrongful confinement of their family driver, who was reportedly coerced into taking the blame for the fatal accident involving the Porsche.
Meanwhile, the juvenile’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, and his mother are in police custody for their alleged role in a case related to the swapping of the juvenile’s blood sample.
The tragic incident took place in Kalyani Nagar, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals when the Porsche, allegedly driven by the minor, collided with their two-wheeler.
On Thursday, the teen’s grandfather approached the Bombay High Court through his lawyer, Aashutosh Srivastava, with a writ petition, claiming wrongful detention and false implication in the case of the kidnapping and wrongful confinement of their family driver.
The petition argues that the case was filed without following due procedure and that the driver, after being released from police custody, chose to stay with the petitioner for safety reasons. The petitioner ensured the driver’s safety and protection, as per the plea.
