The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is on the lookout for a man who fled during a traffic stop at the end of May. According to officials, on May 30th, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle in the vicinity of Forrester Parkway and Old Leesburg Road. The driver, identified as Cornelius Wayne Evans of Lee County, refused to comply with the deputy’s instructions.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy detected the strong scent of marijuana emanating from inside. Evans was directed to step out of the vehicle, but instead, he sped off towards Albany on Old Leesburg Road, prompting a brief pursuit. During the chase, Evans reportedly reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, leading to a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of N Jefferson Street and Philema Road South, forcing deputies to halt the pursuit.

As a consequence of his actions, Evans now faces arrest warrants for felony fleeing and attempting to elude, as well as a window tint violation. He was last spotted heading south on N Jefferson Street, driving a dark blue 2021 Chevrolet 1500 Series Silverado with Georgia Tag #TFR2953.
