Detectives from Salem Police are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating a potential witness in the case of the suspicious death of a 28-year-old woman in Salem last month.
On the early morning of May 23, emergency responders were called to the scene in the 1000 block of Rural Avenue SE, where they discovered the lifeless body of the woman, later identified as Carla Fernanda Vasquez. The incident is currently being investigated as a suspicious death, according to a recent press release.
Surveillance footage captured in the vicinity of where Vasquez was found shows a passing motorist in a light-colored vehicle, believed to be a van or midsize crossover SUV, travelling eastbound on Rural Avenue past Church Street just minutes before the emergency call was made to the police.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been in the area or have information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
