A 23-year-old Virginia woman, Alyssa Jane Venable, is currently wanted for murder following the discovery of her three roommates’ bodies in a home in Spotsylvania County on Tuesday night. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has issued a statement saying that Venable may have shaved her head in an attempt to alter her appearance and avoid detection.
According to the sheriff’s office, authorities were alerted to the situation when a welfare check was requested at the residence around 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found two men and a woman deceased, all with signs of upper body trauma. The victims have been identified as 77-year-old John McGuire, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell, and 65-year-old Carol Anne Reese.
Venable has been named as the primary suspect in the case and has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder as well as the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. She is believed to be driving a grey 2009 Honda Civic bearing Virginia license plate TRK-7451. Venable is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 228 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
In a heartfelt plea, Venable’s grandmother, Jane Venable, spoke to WTTG, urging her granddaughter to get in touch with her family. She expressed concern for Venable’s wellbeing and stated, “She is being accused of a heinous crime, and we don’t know the facts. We don’t know, but right now my granddaughter is missing, and we don’t know if she’s at risk of taking her life. So we just say, please AJ, call home.”
