Ledyard, Conn. – A tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening on Christy Hill Road, where a Groton man lost his life in a motorcycle crash. The Ledyard police department responded to the scene on the 90 block of Christy Hill Road around 8 p.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders informed the authorities that the motorcyclist had succumbed to their injuries as a result of the crash. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Andrew Scott Haydon from Groton.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, it was revealed that Haydon was riding a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Christy Hall Road when the tragic incident occurred. The motorcycle veered off the road to the left and collided with a metal beam guardrail. Haydon was the only person on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Officer Heidi Schmidt #732 of the Ledyard Police Department can be reached at 860-464-6400.
