TIFT COUNTY, Ga. – A devastating accident on Tuesday evening on Interstate 75 in South Georgia has resulted in the loss of five lives, including that of an individual from Atlanta.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that the incident occurred when a vehicle travelling in the center lane of I-75 North failed to stay in its designated lane and collided with a stationary car on the east shoulder. The tragic crash took place at approximately 6:39 p.m. on June 4.
Tragically, the driver of one vehicle and three passengers lost their lives at the scene of the accident. Another passenger was rushed to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
One of the victims has been identified as 22-year-old Serigne Mbodji from Atlanta. Authorities are still investigating whether Mbodji was the driver or one of the passengers in the vehicle.
The identities of the other four victims are currently being confirmed by GSP, and efforts are underway to notify their next of kin.
