Trincomalee, June 5 (Daily Mirror) – In a significant development, the suspect known as Kukul Chaminda, also known as Bibile Chaminda, who was sought after for the heinous attack on a 4-year-old child, has been apprehended by law enforcement authorities. The suspect’s wife and another female accomplice were also taken into custody.
Following the circulation of a distressing video on various social media platforms, which quickly gained traction and widespread attention, the police launched a thorough investigation into the matter. The video depicted the suspect engaging in a brutal assault on the young child, causing shock and outrage among viewers.
The disturbing footage, captured by a concerned neighbour, showcased the suspect mercilessly attacking the child while the innocent victim was in the midst of having a meal at their residence.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the 45-year-old suspect was apprehended by a joint operation involving the Special Task Force (STF) and Welioya Police in the early hours of the morning in the Pulmoddai area. The two female suspects were also taken into custody on charges of aiding and abetting the principal suspect.
All individuals involved in this appalling incident are scheduled to appear before the court for further legal proceedings later today.
