An unincorporated Collier County man, identified as Robert Francis Stoico Jr., 55, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after Naples police reported that he pointed a firearm at a bicyclist during a road rage encounter.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was brought to the attention of authorities when a city resident reported a road rage incident involving a firearm. According to police reports, the victim was riding their bicycle in the 2400 block of Gordon Drive when they engaged in an argument with the driver of a landscape vehicle, later identified as Stoico.

Police stated that Stoico escalated the argument by brandishing a firearm at the victim before fleeing the scene. Detectives utilized electronic investigative tools to track down Stoico’s vehicle, leading to a traffic stop by officers. During the stop, a loaded handgun was recovered from Stoico’s possession.

Based on the victim’s testimony and the evidence gathered during the investigation, Stoico was subsequently arrested by the police. He is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on July 1.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of road rage and the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully and responsibly. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and restraint when faced with aggressive or confrontational situations on the road.
