Mumbai Banker Dies After Trailer Rams Her Two-Wheeler

Mumbai: A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai as a 25-year-old banker lost her life after a trailer collided with her two-wheeler on Thane-Belapur Road. The driver, identified as Hare Ram Diwakar Mishra, 49 years old, was taken into custody by the authorities.
Details of the Incident
The victim, Riya Vikram Upalkar, was on her way back home when the trailer carrying nitrogen gas crashed into her two-wheeler at a junction on a service road near Thane-Belapur Road in Turbhe. Tragically, the trailer also ran over the victim, causing fatal injuries.
Legal Action Taken
Following the incident, the victim’s father, Vikram Upalkar, lodged a complaint against the driver at Turbhe police station. The case has been registered under Motor Vehicle Act 134 A, 134 B, 184, and sections 304 A (causing death by negligence), 279, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code. Senior police inspector Ravindra Daundkar from Turbhe MIDC police station stated, “After the accident, the driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by our team.”
Family’s Grief
The victim had tendered her resignation on the day of the tragedy and was looking forward to a break before joining a new company. Describing her as polite and intelligent, her father shared, “She commuted from Mahape to Vashi daily for two years. Unfortunately, she was struck by a trailer driving on the wrong side that day.”
Personal Details
According to her family, Riya Upalkar had a final conversation with her father where she discussed her resignation and future plans. She was seen as talented and ambitious, with dreams of becoming a manager in a marketing firm. Having already reached the position of Team Leader in her previous role, Riya worked as a home loan analyst. She held a BBMS degree and an MBA in marketing.
