Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 29-year-old medical assistant working for Massachusetts General Hospital is facing charges of indecent assault and battery on a patient, as per the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. Leonardo Hernandez, a resident of Jamaica Plain, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Monday on one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

The incident reportedly took place at Mass. General Dermatology, where the victim had gone for medical attention several weeks prior. The woman alleged that Hernandez conducted an unauthorized examination on her after her doctor left the exam room. Hernandez, who the woman recognized from previous appointments, entered the room and suggested a skin examination for a potential foot condition. Despite the victim’s consent for the exam, she later realized that the doctor had not requested it, leading her to report the incident to Boston police.

During the examination, Hernandez allegedly touched the victim’s leg, raised her underwear, and repeatedly requested to see her breast. The victim refused multiple times, prompting Hernandez to attempt to pull down her hospital gown before leaving the room. The following day, the victim inquired with her doctor about any follow-up examination, only to discover that it was not authorized and not within Hernandez’s job description.

District Attorney Kevin Hayden commended the victim for speaking out against the inappropriate conduct, emphasizing the importance of safe and ethical treatment for all patients during medical appointments. Hernandez was released following his arraignment and has been ordered to stay away from the medical office where the incident occurred. He is scheduled to appear in court again in July.

In response to the allegations, Massachusetts General Hospital terminated Hernandez’s employment and cooperated fully with the law enforcement investigation. The hospital expressed deep concern over the incident and thanked the victim for coming forward to ensure accountability for the individual’s alleged misconduct.

The case serves as a reminder of the significance of maintaining a safe healthcare environment and upholding professional responsibilities in the medical field. Patients are entitled to high-quality care and ethical treatment during their appointments, with any breach of trust or abuse of authority being subject to legal repercussions.
