In Mosinee, Wisconsin, a 21-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital after leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit that culminated in a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver.

According to a statement from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 5, at around 3:45 a.m. when deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle near the intersection of County Highway KK and Burma Road in Mosinee. The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Plover Police Department.

The driver, identified as Justin A. Phillips, failed to stop when deputies activated their emergency lights and sirens. Phillips led the authorities on a chase through the streets of Mosinee and onto U.S. Highway 151.

To assist in stopping the vehicle, the Mountain Bay and Wausau Police Departments deployed tire deflation devices, which successfully slowed down the car. A Marathon County Sheriff’s deputy then executed a P.I.T. maneuver, causing the vehicle to become disabled on U.S. Highway 151, north of Stewart Avenue.

Following the successful intervention, Phillips was safely taken into custody without further incident. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. After receiving medical treatment, Phillips was released and taken to the Marathon County Jail.

During the pursuit and arrest, a deputy sustained minor injuries but is expected to recover fully.
