Srinagar, June 05: Tragedy struck in Zamboora Pattan area in Uri, as a 4-year-old boy lost his life in a horrifying leopard attack on Wednesday.
According to an official statement to news agency Kashmir Scroll, the young victim, identified as Junaid Ahmed Qureshi, son of Zameer Ahmad Qureshi, was viciously attacked by a leopard near his residence in the afternoon.
The official revealed, “The leopard snatched the boy and dragged him into the nearby bushes.” Upon receiving the distressing report, a joint rescue operation was promptly launched by the Police and Army forces. After an exhaustive two-hour search, the boy was discovered with grievous injuries.
Despite immediate medical attention and efforts to save him, Junaid was rushed to SDH Uri, where the doctors, unfortunately, declared him dead upon arrival.
This heart-wrenching incident has left the community in shock and mourning, highlighting the constant threat of wildlife encounters in the region.
