Accident – Death – Obituary News : CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — Authorities in Corpus Christi responded to a distress call at a residence on Mendoza Street in the city’s west side on Tuesday afternoon. The incident, which occurred at 3:42 pm, involved a 51-year-old man sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim, identified as Jose Villarreal, was swiftly transported to Shoreline Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that Villarreal had been involved in a physical altercation with his 32-year-old girlfriend. In an attempt to defend herself from further harm, the girlfriend retrieved a handgun and fired it, resulting in Villarreal being shot. The female, who sustained serious injuries during the altercation, was also taken to the hospital by medical personnel for urgent care.
Following a thorough investigation into the incident, Villarreal was discharged from the hospital and subsequently arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – family violence. He was then transported to the City Detention Center for processing and booking.
