Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office recently reported the successful apprehension of a fugitive thanks to the use of advanced drone technology. This incident took place when a Fauquier County Deputy observed a driver of a Nissan committing a traffic violation on Route 28 in the early hours of June 3.

Upon attempting to pull over the Nissan, the driver decided to flee, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. The chase continued down Catlett Road, with the driver dangerously overtaking vehicles and driving erratically in the opposite lane of traffic.

As the pursuit progressed, the driver ran a red light at Marsh Road, narrowly avoiding a collision with a tractor-trailer. Fortunately, another deputy was strategically positioned at the intersection and was able to prevent any oncoming traffic from entering the area.

The intense chase finally came to an end at the intersection of James Madison Highway Route 29, where the driver crashed the Nissan and attempted to escape on foot into a nearby wooded area.

With swift action, additional deputies arrived at the scene and deployed drones equipped with thermal imaging technology to locate the fugitive hidden in the woods. The thermal imaging footage captured by the drone can be viewed here.

The driver was identified as 18-year-old Javon Saunders from Chantilly in Loudoun County. Saunders was wanted in Loudoun County for eluding authorities prior to this incident.

During the investigation of the crashed Nissan, deputies discovered a Glock handgun in the driver’s side floorboard. As a result, Saunders is currently being held at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center, facing multiple charges including felony eluding, possession of a concealed weapon, driving without a license, and reckless driving, with additional charges pending.
