Accident – Death – Obituary News : A recent U.S. court filing has shed light on the communications between two individuals implicated in the notorious gold heist that took place in Canada last year. The court documents, filed as part of a firearms trafficking case in Pennsylvania, reveal the intricate web of interactions between the accused, Durante King-McLean, and his alleged accomplice, Prasath Paramalingam.

King-McLean, a 25-year-old resident of Brampton, is one of the key figures in the case, which involves the theft of 60,000 gold bars valued at around $20 million from Toronto Pearson Airport. Peel Regional Police have identified King-McLean as the driver of the van used to transport the stolen gold, of which only a small fraction has been recovered to date. According to police reports, King-McLean presented a fraudulent waybill to collect the bars, implicating him in the elaborate heist.

Following the heist, King-McLean’s communications with Paramalingam, a 35-year-old also facing charges in the case, were closely monitored. The court documents reveal that the duo used the encrypted messaging app Threema to coordinate various activities, including the transfer of cash and making travel arrangements within the U.S. Paramalingam, who was charged with being an accessory after the fact by Peel police, was instrumental in facilitating the logistics of the operation.

In a series of messages exchanged in the aftermath of the heist, Paramalingam informed King-McLean of his plans to travel from Portugal to Canada to deliver cash. Photographs of large bundles of Canadian currency were shared, indicating the scale of the operation. Paramalingam then flew to New York to exchange the cash for USD before returning to Toronto with the funds.

The correspondence between the two continued, with Paramalingam arranging for King-McLean to rent an Airbnb in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and later facilitating the purchase of firearms. The documents detail a transaction involving the acquisition of several firearms, with Paramalingam giving the go-ahead for the purchase. The subsequent discovery of over 30 firearms in King-McLean’s possession led to his arrest by U.S. authorities in Franklin County.

King-McLean, who is currently in custody, is set to stand trial on smuggling charges in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this July. The court documents provide a comprehensive insight into the intricate web of communications and transactions that underpinned the gold heist, highlighting the sophisticated nature of the operation and the extensive network involved in the crime..
