In a tragic incident on Tuesday evening, 63-year-old Douglas White lost his life after being struck by a semi-truck on Murfreesboro Pike near Fesslers Lane in Nashville, Tennessee. The Metro Nashville Police Department has confirmed White as the victim of this fatal crash.

According to authorities, White and a friend were walking on the sidewalk when a semi-truck was manoeuvring into a driveway. White inadvertently walked into the path of the semi-truck and was knocked to the ground, resulting in fatal injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 56-year-old Hassan Yusuf, initially left the scene on foot but was later located by law enforcement officers. Yusuf claimed he was unaware of hitting someone, as per police reports.

Yusuf has since been cited for leaving the scene of a crash involving a fatality and failing to provide assistance. Authorities have stated that there were no indications of impairment on Yusuf’s part at the scene of the incident.

To ascertain whether impairment played a role in the tragic event, toxicology testing will be conducted on Douglas White. The outcome of these tests will help determine if impairment was a contributing factor in the accident, as per police statements.
