A tragic incident unfolded in east Las Vegas as a woman lost her life over a week after a four-vehicle collision. The incident took place on May 23 near S. Pecos Avenue, just south of E. Tropicana Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Authorities reported that a 2014 Nissan Versa was heading northbound on Pecos Road and failed to slow down as it approached the intersection with Tropicana. The Nissan collided with a 1990 Lexus and a 2005 Hyundai Tucson, causing the front of the Lexus to be pushed into a 2022 Nissan Altima.
While the drivers of the Hyundai and Altima sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, the occupants of the Lexus were rushed to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the passenger, a 57-year-old woman whose identity has not been disclosed, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.
The woman’s passing marks the 74th traffic-related fatality within LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2024, highlighting the ongoing road safety challenges in the area.
Police have identified the 20-year-old driver of the Nissan Versa, Devon Richardson, as the individual responsible for the crash. Richardson is currently facing multiple charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
