Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A woman from the local area, Caroline Faye Herren, aged 65, was arrested on Friday following an incident where she allegedly attacked her husband, aged 69. The altercation took place at their residence on Oakwood Avenue, resulting in injuries to the husband.

Herren was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery, a felony offence that carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Despite having no prior criminal record, she was initially held on a $5,000 bond before appearing in Garland County District Court on Monday.

During the court appearance, Herren’s bond was reduced to $2,500, and a no-contact order was issued, preventing her from communicating with her husband. As of Tuesday, she remained in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.

Details of the Incident

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police Officer Nathan Thomas responded to a disturbance at the couple’s residence. The victim informed Officer Thomas that the altercation began when he expressed his desire to attend his high school reunion.

Herren allegedly became agitated, stating that he would “be in jail” before he could attend the reunion. Despite his intentions to go without her, she reportedly punched him in the face, initiating a physical altercation.

The victim recounted being struck multiple times in the face by Herren, approximately 15 times, as he attempted to defend himself by blocking the punches with his forearms. Officer Thomas observed a laceration on the victim’s neck, indicating physical harm.

When questioned about the source of the injury, the victim believed it was caused by Herren’s fingernails or one of her rings. After the assault ceased, he managed to push her away, causing her to fall to the floor.

Legal Consequences

Upon making contact with Herren inside the residence, officers arrested her on the scene and charged her with a heightened level of battery due to the victim’s age. The severity of the incident led to the felony charge of second-degree domestic battery.
