Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Jacksonville, Florida – United States District Judge Marcia Morales Howard has handed down a 10-year federal prison sentence to William Rand Paige, Jr. (50, Fernandina Beach) for his attempt to lure an 11-year-old child into engaging in sexual activity. In addition to serving time behind bars, Paige has been ordered to undergo a 10-year supervised release and to register as a sex offender. The sentencing comes following Paige’s guilty plea on February 13, 2024.

Undercover Operation Uncovers Disturbing Conversations

Court documents reveal that on November 29, 2023, an undercover FBI agent in Jacksonville was conducting an online operation to identify individuals seeking to engage in sexual activities with children. Using the alias “ah..904,” Paige reached out to the undercover agent, who was posing as someone with access to an 11-year-old child. Paige’s conversations with the agent quickly turned graphic, with him expressing his desire to meet and engage in sexual acts with the supposed child. Despite his initial account being banned, Paige created a new one to continue communicating with the agent, even sharing videos depicting child sexual abuse.

Arrest and Admission of Guilt

Following the disturbing online exchanges, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Paige’s residence on December 18, 2023, leading to his arrest. During questioning, Paige admitted to engaging in conversations about meeting and “touching” an 11-year-old child. Examination of his cellphone revealed explicit content, including a photo and video depicting child abuse, as well as the same email account used to communicate with the undercover agent.

Collaborative Investigation and Prosecution

The case was a result of a joint effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown prosecuted the case, highlighting the importance of collaboration in combating such heinous crimes.
